Some statistics regarding the recent extreme divergence between the small handful of top-weighted FAAMG stocks and the rest of the stock market (source: WSJ.com):

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite index climbed 2.2% on Friday, lifted by gains in high-fliers like Amazon.com Inc., Facebook Inc., and Google parent Alphabet Inc. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which has a relatively light weighting to tech stocks, was up a mere 0.1%. The Nasdaq outperformed the Dow by the most for a single day in more than 15 years.

The S&P 500 rose 0.8%, but only 281 stocks advanced, while 222 declined. The last time the S&P 500 climbed more than 0.75% to a new record while so few stocks were advancing relative to those declining was in late 1999, according to Jason Goepfert of Sundial Capital Research.
