..in other words, if you are only making binary (either bullish or bearish) un-hedged bets on the direction of the stock market & not diversifying among other positions & asset classes, you are either going be very happy or very upset on any given day & also exposing yourself to huge gain AND loss potential.

Your “short” budget should be offset by your “everything else, including longs” budget on all the other trade ideas posted here, including but not limited to various commodities, precious metals, & other equity long ideas.

I’ll have to take a look at the shippers but I do know there is a lot of variance between shippers as far as what something like the shyte-show in the Middle East can cause. For example, I just recently saw a headline where one (can’t remember the name) shipping company’s stock was on fire because they had the biggest fleet that sails around the Cape of Good hope, which is where something like 80% of the ships diverted from the Suez end up going around.

Therefore, some shippers will be hurt while other will benefit. If I get the time I will go thru the charts of the various shippers to see if any stand out. Thx for mentioning it.
