When the 10 year UST rate peaks (around 2.2-2.5% according to The Bond Strategist, see second graph) then it will probably be an excellent time to take a long term position in gold and TLT. That is, if like me you believe the US’s debt-fuelled economic recovery is not sustainable and the country is in a long term deflationary environment, like Japan was in the 1990s/2000s.
