I am wary of TLT (and other long term bond funds). Its monthly chart shows declining momentum and money flow since July, 2016 when it topped and may be forming a long term head and shoulders topping pattern. It is currently at a critical juncture between monthly long term resistance and support trend lines. MUB for municipal bonds just reached an all time high, but on declining long term momentum and money flow. It will be interesting to see how these charts play out in the next few months. It is possible that these bond funds may decline in conjunction with a down turn in the stock market, similar to what happened last fall.

I should add, TLT also appears to have broken uptrend line, but not as much as the futures.
The futures /ZNH19 and /ZBN19 don't respect the uptend line like TLT. I can see a clear break. Do you feel TLT is more valid for charting?

In reply to Dan.

I'm not adding TLT as an official trade, at least not right now, as the setup isn't a strong as I would like it to be. Plus, looking at the weekly chart, I can see the possibility of a little more downside to backtest the big weekly falling wedge before the next major leg up in TLT.
With that being said, I have been scaling into Treasury bonds on my long-term accounts over the past couple of weeks & plan to do so going forward for the foreseeable future. I posted this update from an inquiry by @chrisneal plus I thought the setup was decent enough to pass along as an unofficial trade but also for others that might already be in TLT and/or looking to add.
