It is very overbought, and divergences keep getting extended. But if you’re waiting for economic numbers to take it down, don’t hold your breath. All the bad numbers in 2023 on housing starts, year over year housing sales, consumer confidence, manufacturing, layoffs, rising unemployment, consumer debt, industrial production, and bank failures haven’t fazed the market a bit. When they announce bad economic numbers, it’s like no one’s paying attention.
I hate to say it, waiting for a pullback, but the market going up with lousy #’s is the signature of a bullish market. As the saying goes…..”The market climbs a wall of worry”.
