Could be. ITB ran into the previous ATH's from late 2021 with big divergences building on the indicators. Jeff,
Don't know why anyone would give your comments a thumbs down. I don't recall disagreeing with any of your posts, but agree or disagree, I like hearing your, and everyone else's opinion on the market and alternative investing ideas.
I've had my posts get thumbs down, and boo-hoo to them. I'm not going to stop. My life has been filled with people disagreeing with me.
I wish everyone would comment and hear what they think.
I read all the comments every day and you are in there almost every day.
I wish you would reconsider.... this IS the place for your contributions.
P.S. I gave you the thumbs up for the comment about the "follow me" sentence....not that you want to limit your time here.

European stocks have held up well considering that much of Europe is now in a confirmed recession while ECB continues raising rates. I think Europe ETFs go much lower over the next few months. EFA and FEZ are among the most liquid, but country specific ETFs (EWG, EWQ, EWU, etc) may be worth a short trade for those who short outright rather than play through option spreads.

In reply to <a href="https://rightsideofthechart.com/swing-trade-ideas-6-26-23/#comment-28491">Jeff Vandenburgh</a>.

XLI has some decent negative divergences building on both the daily & weekly charts while pushing up against (and just recently pulling back from) big horizontal resistance around 106ish, also an economically sensitive sector.

If the economy & stock market manage to power thru the current bearish fundamentals (mixed bags but most importantly employment starting to show potential signs of finally rolling over) & technicals (long-term charts) then XLI could break out, run, & eventually burn thru those divergences. My $$ is the other way at this time but something to watch for.

XLB usually cyclical as well but you know my thought on commodity prices so not a sector I would be against either way right now. (i.e.- would rather be long than short but no position right now).

XLE I have mixed thoughts: Bullish on nat gas & crude still trading mostly sideways & not a strong opinion but the charts of XLE still not looking very good (daily & weekly).

XLRE in big triangle pattern with <abbr class='c2c-text-hover' title='A downtrend occurs when a security or index is making a series of lower lows & lower highs.'>downtrend</abbr> line off April 2022 highs & <abbr class='c2c-text-hover' title='An uptrend occurs when a security or index is making a series of higher highs & higher lows.'>uptrend</abbr> line off Oct lows so likely to grind around until a definitely break above or below it.

If my outlook for the stock market is correct, we're likely to see most or all sectors lower so I'd rather pair/diversify my equity shorts with non-equity longs in different asset classes such as commodities & Treasuries

Looks like some end-of-quarter rebalancing going on today, allowing for some weakness in QQQ/XLK/SOX, while the equal-weight indexes are looking strong. Randy, do you see more strength heading into July in underweight sectors? These ETFs look especially strong at the moment: XLI, XLE, XLB, and even XLRE. And what about potential pairs trades for futures traders, with some long RTY or YM against short NQ?

Thx for sharing but best to use either the chart of $VIX (spot VIX) and/or the charts of the VIX futures as the VIX tracking ETNs, such as VXX, give a very distorted & inaccurated technical picture of the VIX on the longer-term time frames (daily & especially the weekly charts) due to the inherent decay & tracking error from their expenses & ongoing futures rolling.

VXX is one & there are others as well. There are also futures & options on the VIX futures as well (the VIX ETNs are tracking the futures).
