Actually, I did record it in 1080. What happened was that I decided to publish it while the video was still processing on YouTube after the upload. Until the processing stage is complete, they will stream videos in reduced quality.
Other than by looking at the resolution under the video settings icon, you can tell if a video that I’ve posted has not yet fully processed from the new post email notifications. If they show a bunch of vertical colored bars instead of the video thumbnail (a screenshot of the video with the play button in the middle), then the video was still being processed when the post was made.
Sometimes I’ll hold off but a lot of market analysis is timely so I’ll post it as soon as the video is viewable. Even if the quality starts low, you should be able to select HD, at least 720p, in the settings a few minutes into the video.
