Buying and holding the Q’s would have been a nice return over the past 10 years. Or a combination of the Q’s and SPY.

Oh, I'm down to just a few pennies. I don't have the money to buy into positions. But if I did, I'd dollar-cost-average into the big growth stocks (the Mag7 (minus TSLA) and perhaps a few others that have longterm growth stories and large motes, such as NFLX and URI, but definitely AAPL, AMZN, MSFT, META, GOOGL, NVDA).

Sure. I don't have a strong opinion on nat gas here but I think a likely scenario, including one that might entice me to go long (assuming an objective entry) would be following a marginal new & still divergent low as outlined on this 60m chart of /NG:

Jeff you're 100 percent right so what are you gonna buy now and hold for the next 10 years? AI? SHOP? Ten years ago those stocks weren't as strong so what are you gonna buy now that will go up 1000 percent the next 10 years?

Is anyone here beating the market? Has anyone here been trading for the last ten years? If so, what are your returns from all this trading? If instead of "trading" you bought good stocks, and held, what would your returns look like now?
If you bought AAPL 10 years ago, you'd have more than an 800% return, and nearly 1000% when you account for all the dividends.
If you were more conservative and bought something as boring as United Rentals, you'd be up more than 700%.
And if you were even more conservative and you bought the Dow Jones Industrial Average ETF (DIA), then you'd at least have doubled your money at around 130%, and collected some sweet dividends, too, which would have brought your total return to around 180%.
I wish someone told me when I started that I'd make more money just sitting in good stocks for the long haul. I'd be a multi-millionare by now. Instead, I'm down more than 100% from where I started 8 years ago, taking an inheritance of over $350K to less than $0.00, (I added more money to the account several times so as not to go into margin calls).
Trading is gambling. Its addicting. And it's all about chasing a short-term reward. One becomes numb to the losses until one finds themselves dangerously close to retirement with no money to retire.
Don't be like me. Don't trade away your way wealth.

SQQQ goes up when the QQQ drops. So 10 minutes before the close I bought 30 $14 call contracts for $9.00 each …. $270 is the most I can lose. I bought them when SQQQ was at 12. They are out of the money at 14. They expire Feb 9 … two weeks from tomorrow. A low risk, low cost long shot. Basically, Randy’s analysis in his graphic above validated what all the talking heads were saying all day. So we’ll see. QQQ down $2.00 in after hours is encouraging :-)

Not sure why you'd go for SQQQ when it's been on a daily slide down. Might bounce back, but the charts aren't hinting at any comeback just yet. What time scale are you looking at Imadaytr8r?

All morning on CNBC until the market closed, all shows and most talking heads including Jim Cramer, the number one theme was trim positions. Time for a rest and to build your buy-the-dip dry powder. If that’s the prevailing mood of the whales, I suspect if we get a decent gap down in the morning it could trigger the start of a nice 5% dip. I did open a short position … bought some SQQQ calls (a short position on the Q’s) at .09 :’-) … thought I’d start by “dipping” my little toe back into shorting the Q’s … pretty bruised up right now. Oh, and we spent the last 2.5 hours today below Randy’s trend line. (See Randy’s graphic above. … fingers crossed!
