Most times. But we're just at the start of the rising after a 13 year period of 0 interest rates.. When this happened in Japan in 1989 their stock market was cut in half and it still is today.
Still is the shadow of itself 43 years later .

A cash account is actually the most dangerous of all positions long term. This is because you have absolutely no chance to increase the account. This is the long shot but there have been times when a few money funds have broken the buck which means they're just about ready to go in solvent. In the collapse not even government bonds will save You.. One more item of interest as interest rates climb your bond will be worth less and less Another Danger to the balance. Stay with Randy

It really is bizarre to me all the restrictions on the 401k. The only real safe position is money market and the interest on it is just enough to cover the high fees of the account. Once you transfer money out of any fund including money market you can't transfer any money back to that fund for 30 days. I can't understand how they can honestly say they (the company that setup these accounts) are fulfilling there fiduciary responsibilities by not allowing people to sell their funds and go into cash or money market.

Once you leave your place of employment you will have an opportunity to make it into a Roth. You will want to do that and continue It as long as possible. I hope you enjoy your job but if you do Leave it and your roth is large enough you can pay for your retirement in future gains tax free.

Hi Randy,
Do you think now would be an objective time to put 401k money back into the market? I followed your advice and cashed out which worked out great but trying to judge if I should go back in now given all the trading restrictions that come with 401k.
Thanks

Randy, love your stuff, very helpful! With regard to your view of Fed tightening, probably want to focus on the short-end of the curve, the 2yr, as opposed to the 10yr... And then expect as they tighten more, the 10-yr ultimately to come down and further invert the curve... So it makes sense right here, that in a tightening environment the 10yr is comparable to pre-covid.. again, look at the 2yr...

Randy is usually right about the time frame that he is talking about. You might find it interesting to know that September is the worst month of the year. If you study each chart of a decade individually you will find that it most often bottoms out in the year ending in 2. 2002 2012 et cetera.. Will it be 2022? . Most likely in October of this year. I predict that Randy will be right again.
