Don't over think about what happens in other countries. I get that. I just came back from South East Asia. Schools closed, cities shutdown mainly because if they don't do these, US put them in "No travel" restriction. The virus is not as bad as it sounds. Look at Australia, NZ, South America and Africa. There is almost no infection or no community spread. Same in SEA. I believe it will be over soon. End of April comes and we will be laughing about it.

Hello Randy ... I am living in Japan outside of Tokyo for over 6 years now ... if you are interested in first hand impressions I will type up some of the effects on lives here tomorrow - and they are considerable - I don't believe Americans realize how deep the economic ramifications from this are going to be ... but anyway tomorrow, since it is almost 2 AM at the moment for me and my stock market opens at 9 ...

The two sources I rely on for Corona Virus updates is #1: MacroVoices, Erik Townsend is a oil trader / hedge fund manager and he has been tracking the virus diligently for many weeks. Their weekly Thursday podcast usually includes updates for investors on the virus. #2: Peak Prosperity, provides a daily update on YouTube. The first 10 minutes will give you a global snapshot of the day. The one caveat is this channel takes the topic very seriously, in doing so they present great data, but some may consider the tone a little alarmist. The consensus opinion for #1 & #2 is exponential case growth in the US for March and April.

I have to agree. I had an unusual struggle yesterday before finally deciding to pull the sole price target on the official QQQ short trade in favor of lowering the stop & letting it run. My conflict was in overriding one of my usual trading rules which is during a correction when the stock market has clearly become oversold, bearish sentiment is high & most importantly, the major indexes fall to a key support/target on the daily charts while forming clear positive divergence on the 60-minute charts, I usually look to cover my shorts & reverse to long for not just a quick bounce but a swing trade often expected to last weeks or even months.
That is what happened yesterday with QQQ falling to that key support on the daily charts in which I had set the first target just above while the 60-minute chart had (and still have) potential bullish divergences. However, the fundamental case for a much larger drop in the stock market due to what you said above as well as the entire country of Italy shutting down, sporting events being played in empty stadiums, company after company here in the US canceling meetings/conventions, etc.., I believe has a decent chance of overwhelming any bullish technical developments until the stock market reaches the point at which most or all of the fundamental impact that Coronavirus has & will continue to have on the economy (and even then some, as the pendulum tends to swing too far in each direction during rallies & corrections before the trend reverses).
Thanks for sharing what's going on in Japan. I much prefer to hear first (or second) hand from everyone here vs. the media that has a vested interest in sensationalizing the headlines.
