yep,   those are the ideal conditions to sell options.  But if this run up holds I would like to make some money along the way.  Going long in stocks seems more risky that selling puts.  The best option is to sell put spreads to mitigate the risk.]]></description>

I don&#039;t trade options much but when I do, I like to sell them when the $VIX has just had a huge run up &amp; is near the high-end of its range (just before or when I plan to cover equity shorts during a correction or bear market wave down) and buy them (typically puts) when the $VIX is near the low-end of the range, as it is now.

Selling puts (or calls, for that matter) right now yields minimal volatility premium &amp; has tremendous loss potential (to the seller). Either way, the $VIX (and volatility premiums) could continue to fall so either way, I&#039;ll wish you the best of luck.]]></description>
