Ah yes I should pay more attention to technical analysis over news.
It's just that the recent flurry of Trump's tweets that mentions any policy or China trade war content have had the ability to sway the market in a moment's notice.
Do you have any recommendations on what books I should read for basic charting? After that I may be able to understand more complicated set ups.

Bullish news headlines will usually follow bullish technicals (chart setups). Even if there isn't a legit fundamental (news) cause for a rally, the press will slap one on (e.g.- stocks rally on "fill in the blank(s)".)

Good to hear that you made sure to have a stop in place, especially since you wouldn't be in front of the computer. Should those 60-minute divergences on those FAAMG+I stocks plus the small-cap index that I covered in the following video play out, we could be looking at a pretty decent rally that could quickly erase any embedded gains on short positions.

GDP data is out tomorrow I think that is inherently bullish right now until it proves not to be. I am watching AMD Apple and MSFT. AMD and Apple are up MSFT is a little down. My guess is (putting my finger up to the wind) we have apple doing a lot of heavy lifting just my casual observation it is holding onto it's key 200 level.

Yes. Although I still suspect that the recent trading range that we've been in for nearly a month now (it will be 4-weeks this Friday) will ultimately break to the downside, that is far from a certainty. I just finished a video which is uploading now in which I highlight numerous potentially bullish developments on several of the market-leading stocks as well as the small-cap index (IWM & /RTY). In summary, we have the stock market still holding above key support with many of the market-leading stocks with potentially bullish technicals on the 60-minute charts as well as the small-cap index.

I see a lot of indecision as well, but there was a positive tweetie out this morning to help add more sugar to the koolaid (https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-08-28/stocks-bond-yields-extend-drop-despite-trump-china-deal-jawboning). The only bright spot (for me at least being short) is that the tweetie doesn't seem to have had as positive of an effect but it has strengthened the /NQ support and it is now going on 3 hours (1 hr chart) sitting at roughly 7550. I also see the vix up so there is that.

Great to see this Randy.
I'm worried about the recent bounce and I'm away from the computer today and tomorrow to see the charts actively.
I got my stop loss above yesterday's high and hope I won't have to move it to my entry to break even should market come back up.
