Definitely a plausible scenario. But very difficult to trade off it. At the end of the day, If they pushed him too hard, there is a good chance that Trump will just go ballistic – the hell with the consequences. It’s funny that our perception of ‘ballistic’ keeps changing. On friday I was sure that it was ballistic – then monday arrived:)

A good thought. I’ve pretty much wondered the same thing.

Well since I see the market grinding sideways and giving me little to trade here’s a thought.

I am wondering if this is china’s way of testing trump, to see how fragile he is regarding the market. Art of War, if they found his weakness then they can strike it to make him capitulate to trade talks. I think the last time they set the yuan lower and watched our market drop and then trump frantically call back harsh retaliation was the first test. The most recent test was last friday while the fed was talking the Chinese threatened retaliatory tariffs and sent the market down. Trump responded with a nice lie and the market jumped. I am wondering if we get another test by the Chinese soon possibly right before they “meet.” Just a thought I had.

Unfortunately, nobody cares. There are too many who only care about the market going higher and higher and are happy to use whatever they can to get there.
