In reply to Ethelred. You're not alone. I've read that the market is up about 54% of all days. But bull markets average over 4 years in length while bear markets average about 1 year. So if you're not shorting in a bear market, the odds are against you...And this is NOT a bear market rally.

I lost 1.1% of my account on “the fastest turnaround in years.” It could have been a lot worse and my account is still up 7.87% YTD. What bites is that I did not participate in the bull run. But I think I learned something about my trading style: I’m not good at shorting, and I’m not good at timing.

Good thing I’ve been taking software longs instead of shorting. I don’t understand why people are shorting after it recovered the trading range. Even Randy said a false breakdown is very bullish, a short squeeze was likely. People are getting too clouded by oil and the Iran conflict to see what’s in front of them in the charts. Or are people still thinking this is a “bear market rally”? That would be even crazier in my opinion
