I wouldn’t trade based on his tweets, thats recipe for disaster. Been there done that.

@HermonMunster I believe it, I would probably be pissed too. I was fortunate enough to have received my first Canadian order (Alberta) on Jan 1st and fulfilled it by Jan 2 or 3rd. As a tiny American startup business I enjoyed shipping my first “international” order and first order to Canada. :)

Sadly, I expect DJT is messing up any near term future Canada bases orders. :(

i can tell you for a fact that the Canadians are royally pissed. I work with French Canadians. They will never let this 51st state thing go. Not sure how this will affect business long term, but for sure, things won’t just go back to normal.

@purvee I know right? Smells like this was deliberate for the sake of “insider trading” for his benefit and the others in his bubble. I think this will for sure badly hurt china-US trade relationships going forward the next 4 years.

The scenario that comes to my mind is our trade relations with China are going to be terrible therefore costs will skyrocket. The Feds won’t cut rates because of “inflation” and since DJT lifted tariffs on the other countries the Feds have additional reason not to cut. I think the feds will continue hiking/keeping rates steady. And inflation/stagflation will continue to be. Meanwhile we blew up trade relations with China.

China is not happy and will not back down and come with their tail between their legs. They will wait for the US to do so. DJT will not do that either. It’s a mexican stand off lol.

It doesnt really matter what he warned when you read his advisors laughing that this was his intention all along. HOW SICK. What happens in 90 days? They decide to play another game with people’s and business lives?

That was on Bloomberg who I’m much prefer to CNBC unless they’re running a commercial then I’ll switch. CNBC tends to say things that are the exact wrong time to do things. By the time they say look how much the market’s down it’s time to buy and vice versa.

@Mikeflegel what source do you use for following his real time “tweets”? Truthsocial? I see 4 hours before his Truthsocial post regarding the increased china tariffs and 10% flat tariffs on everyone else he posted about great time to buy DJT.

Unsure what you are talking about or to whom? Personally, I stated my preference several times today to book profits just shy of those resistance levels on QQQ & /NQ. Nice time to book gains and/or reverse short (for active traders) here at 3:40 pm as I type with /NQ in the horizontal price target zone with the downtrend line just a little higher & QQQ a fraction of a percent from hitting that 466.14 resistance.

Be careful, 5-min divergences & sell signals often get plowed over in explosive moves like this. Best to stick with the longer-term intraday and daily charts when trying time pullbacks on the rare days like today where shorts are getting absolutely murdered (and covering or getting hit with forced margin call selling) plus JCL longs are just dying to get in on the fun & buying even the slightest dip.

With that being said, we’re pretty much up to that first tradable pullback target (on both QQQ & /NQ) I posted earlier so now is a good time to book the big gains and/or reverse to (partial or full) short for the first half-decent bout of profit taking. (3:38pm as I type)

No vacation coming up & I wouldn’t miss trading this market for the world. But yes, you are right in that the market tends to wait for me to go on vacation to make the big moves that I’ve been calling for in the past….lol.

The TC2000 charting platform shows me a high of just below 90 on the $VIX at the peak during COVID. Sometimes one chart platform or another is off. Either way, I can’t speak to the potential or even possible of the VIX exceeding 100 as I’m not sure if the formula used makes it a range bound indicator like the RSI (the RSI is bounded by 100 on the upside & zero on the bottom, although never gets all the way to either extreme). You can easily find how the VIX is calculated, including the answer to that question with a web search for “VIX volatility index methodology”.

By your logic, yes, if the VIX can exceed 100 & lots of people/institutions short it there & it goes much higher, then yes, a short-squeeze could certainly exacerbate a move higher.

From my experience, nay… from my analysis of past bear markets & big corrections, the $VIX usually tops before the stock market bottoms (e.g VIX peaked in late 2008 during the financial crisis but the S&P 500, which it is based off, didn’t bottom under early March 2009).
