$VIX has moved up quite a bit since the divergent low just before the start of the year & remains elevated but right around that key 29ish resistance level.

The reason it hasn’t truly exploded is that the S&P 500 (which it tracks the put & call buying on) has only just hit the minimum definition of a correction (10% pullback). Again, the $VIX closed up about 130% above its Dec low today so its not as if it’s been completely lame & the early rise in the $VIX while the S&P 500 was making new ATHs for weeks was one of “tells” I was citing as to why a reversal/failed breakout to new highs was likely, among many other things, earlier this year.
