I find this environment very difficult to short. With a company like CAT posting record revenues AND backlog, a recession is nowhere in sight. The only reason I’m looking to short currently is the gap-fill on all the stock futures (which Small Caps have already filled) created Sunday night when futures opened. Other than that, we’re entering the most bullish part of the year. All the craze from the last few years (inverted yield curve, tariffs, higher interest rates, more tariffs, AI bubble, poor market breadth, etc. etc.) has only resulted in massive buying opportunities when the market goes down even just marginally… After the gap fill, I’m going long until the new year.
Only thing I see as a problem is the relative underperformance of crypto market… but even that’s not really going down, just consolidating sideways for weeks now… probably with likely pop after a slight correction in the next few days…

From what I’ve been reading lately, deterioration in the jobs market appears to be building momentum lately, which is usually how it works (continued & progressive deterioration) once the bottom (nat’l unemployment rate) is in.

Best of luck on those trades. Now the handful of big tech reports tonight & tmrw after the close will likely either make or break them.

These price targets on the intraday charts of /NQ & QQQ are short-term targets for active swing traders. The recent sell signals of the primary uptrend line breakdowns on the daily & weekly charts are still intact & the price targets for typical swing & longer-term trend traders remain as posted on those longer-term time frames.

QQQ offers an objective short entry on this post-FOMC 15m bearish rising wedge pattern breakdown with an alternative entry or add-on to come if/when QQQ is still below the trendline following Powell’s post-FOMC press conference.
