Just noticed the bearish rising wedge pattern on the /ZW wheat 60-minute chart as it approached the 715 level. Also, not crazy about the charts of the 2 other big grains right now (soybeans & corn) so just wanted to pass that along. I’ll revisit the charts of the grains once the FOMC rate decision is out of the way next week.

Nice little poem but remember that stocks are only one of several asset classes. It mentions diversification, which is paramount to success in trading & investing but you can have a portfolio diversified among 100 stocks & still get clobbered in a bear market.

Studies have shown that asset allocation (stocks, bonds, commodities, real estate, etc..) is actually more important to a portfolio’s performance than individual security selection (stock picking).

Also, keep in mind that stocks benefit from falling & low interest rates but under perform in a rising rate environment. I’ve highlighted the long-term secular bear market in interest rates (falling rates) since the early 80’s into the 2020 COVID lows & what, by my analysis, appears to be the very early stages of a new secular bull market in (rising) rates.

If we are entering a new mutli-year to multi-decade inflationary era of rising rates, one might consider incorporating more hard & soft commodities into their portfolio including precious & industrial metals, various agricultural commodities, & select commodity related real estate (farm land, timber, etc..)

If I recall correctly, I didn’t issue a sell signal on the miners, rather I said that I took profits on my GDX & most recently, closed out my longs on gold & silver futures along with the long on /E7 (Euro futures) yesterday, which I had taken the day before when /E7 fell to good support. I also made clear I was only taking profits on those positions as it was just before yesterday’s ECB rate decision as the risk wasn’t worth it & that I would just stand aside & see how the dust settled before deciding if & when to re-enter the metals, long or short. Still standing aside for now & probably will hold off at least until the FOMC rate decision next Wed as the metals are likely to trade erractically until then.

I’m not sure what you mean by that question. I typically use the term ‘sell signal’ when a trade setup (e.g.- stock,ETF, etc..) breaks down below a specific support level, such as an uptrend line, price support level, or bearish chart pattern that I was waiting for to trigger a short entry or ‘sell signal’.

While the next big sell signal I’m watching for would be a break below this Monday’s lows on all the indexes, one of the most recent objective short entries was the backtest of that Dec uptrend line & the 4004ish resistance just above it on /ES (S&P 500 futures). While not a “sell signal” IMO, a rally into resistance, assuming I suspect a reversal there & not a breakout, is an objective short entry.

The charts of wheat continue to firm up & if nothing else, wheat & some of the other ag commodities such as coffee are a way to diversify one’s longer-term portfolio in addition to a tactical swing trade right now. Proper diversification & asset allocation are key to both investing & trading IMO.

What I have learned so far in 7 years is all strategies will work perfectly if we learn to manage our risk and it is for sure if our strategies has a concept of 1:2 RR, all of us will be profitable no matter what!!!

it isnt effective anymore…imho at least…
