AGX is in a solid uptrend at this time, but with a sell signal to come on a solid break and/or daily close below this minor uptrend line/bearish rising wedge pattern. My first two (and minimum) price targets, should AGX trigger a sell signal soon, are shown at the arrow breaks. Should the stock market flip some of the intermediate & longer-term indicators from bullish to bearish, including but not limited to falling back below the 200-day MAs, AGX will likely ultimately hit some of those lower support levels.

I never avoid shorting a stock just because it pays a dividend, assuming my price targets AND the expected time for them to be hit, vastly outweigh (in percentage terms) what the cost of the dividends I would have to pay. (which would be the case with AGX…. well worth it, again, assuming those targets are hit, providing for about a 35% profit in what will probably only be as long as a few months (i.e., one or so quarterly dividend payments).

Additionally, and something that you should always factor in, is just how much the dividend is. According to the first two sources I checked (which may or may not be accurate), AGX only has an ANNUAL dividend yield of 0.41- 0.60%, which is almost nothing, so unless that info is wrong, I wouldn’t even factor the dividend in on this one.

Best of luck if you take it & feel free to bump me for an update on it anytime.

Hi Randy,
Would you give your thoughts on shorting AGX? This stock passed high of Jan. 2017 around Apr. 2024, and shot up over 500%!

In addition, this stock pays a dividend. Is it worth shorting a stock that pays a dividend? The person shorting the stock has to pay the dividend.

Thank you!
Dan
