My guess is Putin will turn on the spigot but doesn’t matter if I’m right or wrong as the charts are, by far, the best guide for trading nat gas. As you said, the news is usually priced in before the headlines hit. Watch for a solid break of that 8.929ish support on /NG & that should trigger the next wave of selling.

Sometimes I find it difficult to resist the urge to try to follow the news to gain an edge. By the time something is published, the market already knows.

I’m letting the charts be my guide while being tuned in to the market moving news. I imagine this will be important for preparing for whipsaws in the winter. Russia will probably test Europe’ s resolve by cutting all gas supply for part of the heating season.

The nord stream pipeline will be closed Aug 29-Sept 2. Monday Sept 5th is Labor day and the US markets will be closed. Tuesday Sept 6th should be a huge move in natural gas prices. Down if the pipeline “maintenance” was completed and the flow of gas is about 20% of capacity. Up if the “maintenance” takes more time or gas flow is lower than before.
