Charting question here. I have noticed I have a problem in Thinkorswim, and I am not sure what the right solution is. So this is a question for Randy or anyone on the board who has an opinion or an answer, or has noticed a similar problem. I have been spending the morning going through this video and updating all my charts to match Randy's trendlines; using log scale. Most of the charts outlined here are waiting for a trendline break to trigger a buy to short the stock. So my goal is to create an alert using the trendline.

But in Thinkorswim, one cannot use a log scale trendline to create an alert. We are forced to turn log scaling off, then the option appears to create an alert using a trendline. But I notice, sometimes, when turning the log scaling off, the price has already driven below the trendline. Thus, creating an alert with the trendline is useless. So my question is, what is the right solution to this problem?

I will walk through my thoughts on how do I solve this issue. First, do reposition my trendline with log scaling off to closely match Randy's log scale line, and set an alert using that trendline? Keep in mind if I do this, when turn log scaling back on, it doesn't match Randy's line. Or rather, is this an indicator that possibly the trajectory of my line is slightly off, and I need to position my trendline better so that the log scale on and off more closely match? To compensate for this problem, I have been creating a price alert at a set price just below the top, but if the stock keeps moving up the trendline for days or weeks, and crosses the trendline at a way later date at a much higher price, by the time the drop triggers my price level alert, the drop may already be over and I missed the opportunity. I am hoping to get a better understanding of how to use the trendlines.

Just wondering what others do in this situation? Or possibly someone has a great solution to this issue. Thanks
