In reply to dorpen. I'm thinking the buying enthusiasm slowly wanes with the short-sellers hoping the selling enthusiasm steps up after the buyers have taken their positions.

Do you use volume as an indicator? As I look at SPY, on a 15m chart, the slow ramp up to the 289.90 area seems rather low in volume. Which, from recent days with similar patterns, has lead to a “sell-off” (in some capacity) either towards market close or the next day. Thank you in advance.

QQQ just traded as high as 185.83 vs. that 185.90 resistance on the 60m chart with SPY just hitting a HOD of 289.67 vs. the 289.90ish resistance level from 'gap city' in the middle of the Aug trading range so a level to watch to see if the sellers can regain control.
