Thx for clarifying. I hadn’t heard of any new proposed regulations on retail day traders so they must have been referring to the PDT (pattern day trader) rules that have been in effect for year (which apply to cash accounts & margin accts below $25k).

Oops, clarified with my broker again. I might have misunderstood the rule. You are still allowed to have 3 round trip day trades per week, but if you violate the rules and get flagged, you will only be allowed to have the flag removed once for the lifetime of your account. If the rule is violated, your account will be locked up.

Heads up! I’ve talked to my broker @ TD Ameritrade today. I was told SEC is going to impose rules curbing retail day trading. The rule is going to announced in the next few days and start date will be mid September. Instead of allowing 3 round trip day trades per week, only 1 day trade is allowed. If those accounts below $25000 violate the future day trading rule, brokers are not allowed to remove the flag. Those accounts will be permanently banned. So, is this going to be a black swan event? Even if the whole market is not going to react badly on this, the brokerage sector will? What do you think? Short brokerage stocks like Robinhood, Charles Schwab etc.?

This spike should prove to be an over action to Ida … I’m sure most vital oil infrastructure have been fortified since Katrina … but with that said I am staying long EPD! (Oil Infrastructure) Pays 8% dividend and is as solid as any stock on the planet!
