OK…I read later that the Fed (via Blackstone) can purchase bond ETFs but won’t be able to invest more than 20% in any ETF. So, in theory, the Fed could own 20% of LQD, if my understanding is correct…..This is not your father’s capitalism. Japan here we come!!

I think he means investment grade, referring to LQD. ICYMI, the FED announced today that they are also buying high yield corp debt via ETF purchases

I’m trying to understand if and how this announcement, in tandem with the Fed’s March 23 announcement of the Primary Market Corporate Credit Facility, will affect the longer term price of corporate bond funds. As I understand it, the Primary Market Corporate Credit Facility will allow the Fed to buy BBB bonds before those bonds are imminently?? downgraded to junk on the books of the mega Banks and cause a downgrade of the banks themselves. Does this mean that the Fed will likely only buy BBB bonds owned by the banks and that corporate bond funds will continue to hold their BBB bonds and get hammered anyway? Can anyone speculate?
