How “tight” to set stops should be relative to the volatility & price history of the security: The more volatile, the wider the stop needed to help avoid stop-raids. Also, some securities have more of a history of piercing thru support & resistance levels before snapping back & ultimately reversing off those levels.
Right now I can make a pretty strong case to be short the major stock indices so I’m giving my swing short positions some room (wider stops vs. tight stops).

the market wants to trap as many the wrong direction as possible, So the QQQ gap fills and then some, of course my shorts from yesterday are stopped out. It is better to short at resistance and place tight stops…. somehow they always figure out a way to leave the station without me…….. now that they trapped longs, it will reverse…….. just sayin ……..

Sure is. Certainly something to be noted & one reason stops (on any shorts here) are a must. However, we’re just coming off a much larger divergent high & on the heels of a recent sell signal so I suspect these divergences will soon be burned thru on another leg down, especially if/when SPY & /ES break the key support levels they both tested at today’s lows.

Sure seems that way, and, oh yes, last time this happened in March, QQQ broke out and hit new ATHs again. It’s been rough whether you are bear or bull for a while now.
