Note, just after posting this example of using the Exp. Envelope Channel using a 9-<abbr class='c2c-text-hover' title='An exponential moving average (EMA) is a type of moving average that is similar to a simple moving average, except that more weight is given to the latest data. This type of moving average reacts faster to recent price changes than a simple moving average. (source: investopedia.com)'>ema</abbr> with a 1.3% envelope setting, IWM popped sharply to clearly move above the upper band of the envelope, thereby providing a sell signal for a move back down to at least the bottom of the envelope.

Looking at the recent buy & sell signals in the past, there has been about a maximum of 3 consecutive daily(edit) candles above or below the envelope before the trend reverse set in. Even the one whipsaw buy signal on this chart was followed by the strongest buy signal in months just a few candles later (early August).
