A case to go long XLV on this break above the big mutil-year range could certainly be made but personally, I wouldn’t.

1) As I often say; breakouts that occur with negative divergences & overbought conditions (which XLV has both), typically fail.

2) If you look at the biotech sector (XBI, IBB, etc..) you will see a similar big sideways trading range that they are near the top of but have yet to take it out. Maybe if the biotech sector clearly breaks out & looks good at the time since that is a sub-sector of the healthcare sector. I’ll try to cover those charts in the next video.

Of course, nothing wrong with taking a shot at an XLV long with stops in place in case the breakout does fail although I usually give breakouts a little room to fall back into the range on a backtest since that’s pretty common, even if the backtest (or slight undercut) sticks.

Add anything…the market ‘s going up. JMO

Looks easy in a bull market. Keeping the gains is the hard part. : ) i’m working on just mastering that one set up.
