Looks like it went above $24. Makes me wonder if it’s gonna roll back down or keep going. DX is not particularly moving today..

Thanks, I actually just added to my crude short this morning. I know it’s aggressive. But R/R with a stop a few percentage points above looks pretty attractive. Plus from a demand side perspective with storage barely touched, despite the OPEC cuts it seems to make sense from a fundamental point of view.

Crude has been stuck in a tight sideways range for some time. At resistance with divergences, not going up but not going down either, most likely due to the fact the stock market has been trading sideways/holding up for the past couple of months plus & crude traders are waiting to see which way the stock market & economy go from here.
Friday is likely to be a pivot point for the stock market as 4 of the 5 FAAMGs report Thursday after the close. As such, we are likely to get an idea which way both crude & the stock market will be heading from here by next week. If that move is to the downside, as the charts indicate, I believe you will get more bang for your buck shorting crude than the stock market (dollar for dollar).

To add to those comments, one other consideration is that I just recently closed out long-term positions on gold & my next swing trade will be to short it. All the better if GLD imploded while I’m short, although I don’t see that as likely.

Thanks for sharing your input. There are risks holding any investment. In the case of trading or investing in gold, especially with swing trading/active trading, there is a trade-off between safety & convenience. Physical gold (bars, coins, bullion) is impractical & costly (shipping & storage cost, risk of theft if kept at home, etc.) so that leaves pretty much leaves ETFs or futures as the best option. ETFs are inherently less prone to risk of loss than ETNs so & GLD is the most actively traded/liquid gold ETF on the market although one could opt to go with PHYS, as @Action_Jackson suggested below.
