As of 3:30 pm, were looking at the battle for 294 (SPY), with bulls trying to get SPY back above that level & the bears trying to spark a reversal & another leg down as SPY has just bounced back to that key level. So far, bears in control as we reversed off 294 as I started typing. Just under 30-min to go, should be an interesting close.

Dead cat bounce off that /ES 2939 support so far with just under 40-minutes to go. Buyers still M.I.A. for the most part. Holding tight on the longs for now (active trading acct) while sitting tight on the index shorts in the longer-term accounts with plenty of room to add when the time is right.

Will do, at least when volatility is elevated & we get both significant and/or actionable/tradeable developments during the trading session. The stock market ebbs & flows between periods of low & elevated (and/or high) volatility. Periods of low-volatility, which have been the majority of time in recent years, can last for months on end, without many significant developments on the intraday or even daily charts.
During those periods, I'm able to stay on top of questions from the trading room or comments below the front page posts & I also tend to post more analysis & trade ideas on various sectors and individual stocks as I have more time to analysis charts besides the stock indices, bonds and a handful of commodities & other things that I usually keep close tabs on. Thx for the feedback.

Maybe but I'm thinking more along the lines of either moving stops up to entry (to assure at least a break-even) or trailing up stops & letting the index longs ride based on the fact that we still have bullish divergences on the 15-60-minute charts plus, what could prove to be, another successful test of the top of the Aug trading range on the $SPX. However, I'll be curious to see how the market trades in the final hour of trading today. So far, the buyers have been completely MIA. A strong ramp into the close would make it easier to take some longs home while a dump to close at or near the LOD certainly wouldn't.
I will say that I feel much better going home long futures vs. index ETFs due to the fact that the market is sitting on the edge of a technical cliff with increasing bearish technicals on the daily & weekly time frames. As such, I view trading the long-side as trying to pick up nickels in front of a steamroller which is not advisable for all but the most nimble traders. Futures allow stop-loss orders that can be triggered nearly around the clock whereas index ETFs are at risk for a large opening gap against the position, should the futures tank in the overnight session.
While I can't recommend futures or any particular trade to anyone specifically, generally speaking, I think it is worth looking into the relatively new Micro E-mini index futures which trade at a smaller leverage factor (smaller position size/net exposure) than the E-minis. /ES>/MES; /NQ>/MNQ & /RTY>/M2K.
Finally: When in doubt, get out! (Meaning that it is usually best to not trade or go flat if one is unsure how to be positioned).

One other development to mention: So far today, SPY slightly undercut Friday's low while the tech-heavy QQQ (so far) reversed 0.65% above its comparable low from last Friday. While the marginal new low in SPY extended the previous divergences that were in place at Friday's low, as of now, the positive divergence at Friday's low on QQQ remains intact & would continue to do so if QQQ were to undercut that low (by just a marginal amount) before the close today or possibly tomorrow).
