Occasionally, I will trade one of the more obscure futures contracts but I typically prefer to stick with the most popular stock index futures and commodity futures as they have the best liquidity. Plus, some of those less popular futures have wonky trading hours, roll dates, etc..

Basically, a chart is a chart so if I see something that stands out & can make a decent case to go long or short just about anything, I will.

I don't pay much attention to headlines on things such as weather reports & their potential impact on grains, etc.. because... A) that is usually priced in by the time I read it, and... B) if the charts still appear clearly bullish or bearish, then I'm not going to abandon my trading plan based on the latest headline that might make me want to second-guess it. (otherwise, I'd get shaking out of just about every swing & trend trade).

Investors & certain entities using futures as a hedge (pretty much what they were initially intended for) may & often do put a big weighting on fundamentals. Swing traders primarily or exclusively use the charts (technicals) as their reasoning for entering & exiting a trade.

Hi Randy. I'm still reading up and learning futures. I didn't realize they covered so many sectors. Do you ever trade in currency futures? Like New Zealand, Yen, Peso etc. Can you offer any general insights? Or is it all just read the charts and trade accordingly?

Also for the oats, Milk, do you ever trade them if the charts are favorable?

Lastly, when you are in a position in /ZW for example. Are you reading about weather reports or any market information, or just purely trading the charts.

I think I know what your answer will be, but I just need to hear it again.

Thank you

GDX still has negative divergences on the 60-min & daily time frames with GLD still within & now approaching the top of the multi-month (April-current) trading range with the negative divergences to extend, should it pop above the top of the range (317ish) it is currently testing.
