This video from the channel Right Side of the Chart provides a comprehensive technical analysis and overview of various swing trade ideas, market indices, and specific stock charts based on closing data around mid-June 2026.

Here is a summary of the core assets and trade ideas discussed:

1. Stock Trade Updates & Interactive Comments

The presenter begins by walking through active posts and trading room updates on their website, highlighting recent target achievements:

RKDA (Arcadia Biosciences): Achieved its 1st, 2nd, and 3rd price targets, showing significant profit returns (~70&) & has fallen back to just below the trendline/entry level. Suggested stops & next buy trigger levels are discussed.

QQQ Swing Trade Update: An active short trade idea targeting the tech-heavy index.

Community Chart Reviews: The speaker interacts with subscriber requests, reviewing requested shorts like CIBR (Cybersecurity ETF) and AIQ (Artificial Tech ETF), as well as evaluating long-term potential for protective positions like VIXY (Volatility ETF).

2. Market Indices & Volatility

VIX (CBOE Volatility Index): Analysis points out major historical inflection points around previous divergent lows & breakouts/buy signals. The VIX chart exhibits strong trend lines and a pattern of “divergent lows,” indicating potential upcoming market turbulence and a bounce in volatility although any meaningful upside from here will most likely depend on a reversal & substantial drop in the financial sector.

XLF (Financial Select Sector): Reviewed alongside major banking components like JPMorgan Chase (JPM) and Bank of America (BAC). The financial sector shows signs of recently testing the key 200-day moving average levels while breaking out above the 200-day SMA and down-trend resistance lines today.

3. Gold, Silver, and Commodities

GLD (SPDR Gold Trust): The presenter details a technical breakdown of gold, noting a “blow-off top” pattern followed by corrections into key target zones. The focus remains on evaluating strong potential divergent lows for prospective long re-entries. GLD just hit the top of the final ‘official’ price target, the top of the T3 zone, which is support, along with positive divergences on the daily chart, providing an objective level to cover the swing short position and/or reverse to a long position for a bounce trade, with stops somewhat below the bottom of the T3 zone.

GDX (Gold Miners ETF): Tracks closely with gold bullion, breaking key historical trend lines and also hitting & reversing off T2 (second price target) when GOLD hit the top of the T3 zone.

SLV (iShares Silver Trust): Displays a steep correction pattern after historical highs, consolidating within defined triangle chart patterns as it stabilizes. Along with GLD & GDX, SLV just hit the third (T3) and final price target (uptrend line support) on the daily chart with a bounce likely.

4. Large-Cap and Emerging Tech Charts

Bitcoin (BTC/USD): Analyzed on a multi-year daily macro scale. The speaker identifies long-term uptrend channels, historical breakout levels, and highlights the current testing of divergent highs/lows while at support, increasing the odds for a counter-trend bounce along with MSTR.

MSTR (MicroStrategy Inc.): Features a breakdown of historical performance relative to key target zones, tracking moving averages and active stop-loss recommendations. Should $BTC continue to hold $ reverse off the 58,628 price target/support level, it is likely to mount a tradable bounce with potential bounce targets covered.

BABA (Alibaba Group): Discussed on a macro-weekly timeframe, detailing years of cyclical downturns followed by bottom support accumulation and emerging uptrend signals.

FIG (Figma Inc.) & SPCX (SpaceX associated themes): Included to highlight swift tech performance fluctuations and momentum trading patterns in current market conditions.

Here is a summary of the technical analysis provided by Randy Finney from Right Side of the Chart in his market update video:

Major Stock Indexes & Volatility

Market Posture & Volatility [00:56]: Following a sharp drop, the market experienced a reflexive snapback rally. While many associate the VIX with downward market movement, volatility simply implies wide up-and-down swings. As such, the relatively large gain in QQQ today is typical during periods of elevated volatility, & traders shouldn’t read too much into it, as the odds indicate it is most likely a reflexive, near-term oversold bounce following Friday’s big drop.

SPY (S&P 500) [02:35]: The index broke down from a clear rising wedge pattern on the daily chart. Following a deeply oversold state on the 60-minute time frame, it triggered a run-of-the-mill counter-trend bounce. Standard Fibonacci retracement levels (38.2%, 50%, and 61.8%) mark the expected overhead targets for this bounce.

QQQ (Nasdaq 100) [05:15]: Tech heavily drove the recent market sell-off. QQQ triggered a clear sell signal from a steep bearish rising wedge with a negative divergence at its high. The current reflexive bounce sits in a minor resistance cluster (around 722), which is labeled as an optimal zone to add or re-enter short positions. A breakout above the 61.8% Fibonacci level or a full gap back-fill would begin to invalidate the short thesis.

IWM (Small Caps) [13:20]: After breaking below a minor uptrend line, IWM hit its first short-term pullback target (280.37) and bounced. It is currently consolidating sideways, offering another objective short entry or add-on level.

Sector Analysis & Cryptocurrencies

Financials (XLF) [19:31]: The financials sector is the second largest in the S&P 500. A true market correction requires the financials to break down out of their current pattern; specifically, XLF needs to take out the $50–$51 support shelf. Major components like JPMorgan (JPM) and Bank of America (BAC) are tracking inside large, symmetrical triangle patterns with heavy negative divergences on their daily charts.

Bitcoin & MSTR [28:47]: Bitcoin recently tested a major technical support zone at 58,628 with positive divergences. It is experiencing a short-term bounce alongside risk-on tech assets. While intermediate-term targets remain lower, the bounce at major support warrants caution on aggressive short plays, particularly when using highly volatile leverage tools like MSTZ.

Commodities & Treasuries

Agricultural Commodities [32:25]: Broad structural bull markets remain intact for grains. Corn, wheat, and soybeans are sitting at primary support levels, providing objective long entry or add-on points. The ETF TILL serves as an equal-weighted vehicle to play this space.

DBC vs. DBA [39:33]: Broad-based commodity funds (like DBC) are heavily overweighted in energy and crude oil (often near 50%). If tech drops further and triggers economic demand destruction, crude oil is expected to trend lower. Therefore, diversified agricultural packages (like DBA) or direct commodity plays are technically preferred over generic broad-market commodity funds.

Treasuries & Interest Rates (TLT) [42:48]: Long-bond yields are testing a multi-decade overhead resistance shelf. If interest rates break out to new absolute highs, it will create significant headwind pressure for equity markets. TLT is sitting at support, making it an applicable indirect hedging tool if the broader stock market continues its downward trend.

Towards the start of the video, I covered the major securities exchanges (CBOE, CME, NDAQ, ICE, etc.), highlighting the recent unusually large & swift drop in most. At that point, I had intended to cover my low-volume indicator showing SPY, QQQ, & SOXL all approaching my lowest-extreme threshold levels that have preceded or coincided with significant tops in the past. However, I ended up covering that at the very end of the video & should have mentioned that could possibly be part of the cause of the recent sharp drop in the exchanges (I plan to do more DD on what might be the fundamental catalyst for the recent drop).

Here is a summary of the early session update video by Randy Phinney for Right Side of the Chart on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. The video covers general market conditions, potential signs of an impending market correction or “crash watch,” and deep dives into specific niche sectors, financial exchanges, and cryptocurrency markets.

General Market Conditions & Technical Indicators

Market Crash Watch: Phinney discusses his reasoning for potentially reinstating a “market crash watch.” While current conditions aren’t yet severe enough for a full warning, multiple indicators are flashing yellow and red flags.

Sentiment & Breadth Indicators: Equity-only and total put-to-call ratios are at extreme levels. Furthermore, market breadth is exceptionally poor; over half of the stocks in the NASDAQ Composite are trading below their 200-day moving averages, meaning the market’s new highs are being driven largely by a small group of mega-cap tech and semiconductor stocks.

Low Volume Indicator: Phinney explains his proprietary low-volume indicator (a 10-period exponential moving average over volume).

Extreme Valuations: Utilizing the Shiller P/E Ratio, Phinney points out that market valuations are well past 2008 financial crisis levels and are rapidly approaching the 2000 dot-com bubble extremes. He is heavily monitoring the $51.00 support level on the XLF, noting that it is currently testing its 200-day exponential moving average.

Niche Financial Data & Exchanges Sector

Phinney notes a highly unusual 27% drop across the CBOE along with other recent sharp drops among the other publicly traded financial exchanges. While CBOE recently received SEC approval to launch “near” around-the-clock 23*5 trading for all NMS stocks, their stock price is still plunging. Because they are hovering at long-term historical supports and are heavily oversold, Phinney views them as objective short-term long bounce trade ideas with tight stop-losses:

CBOE (CBOE Global Markets): Hit a price alert right at long-term trendline support and its 200-day simple moving average. Phinney initiated a long position here to play a counter-trend bounce.

CME (CME Group Inc.): Plunging directly into a major historical horizontal support line established back in 2023. Phinney provides two potential bounce targets.

ICE (Intercontinental Exchange): Displaying positive divergence right at its $140.54 support zone, though experiencing a “momentum-fueled overshoot” below the line before expected stabilization.

NDAQ (Nasdaq Inc.): Down in sympathy with the other exchanges, it is currently sitting right at its primary uptrend line support. A breakdown below this line and its 200-day moving average would signal a structural issue for the exchanges.

IBIT (iShares Bitcoin Trust) & QQQ Correlation: Phinney maps the historical lockstep positive correlation between the spot Bitcoin ETF (IBIT) and the NASDAQ 100 (QQQ). Currently, Bitcoin is plunging while the NASDAQ continues upward. Phinney states that this divergence is highly unusual and “something is likely to give.”

The Retail Margin Liquidation Catalyst: Phinney highlights that FINRA margin debt is sitting at dangerous all-time highs. Because a massive portion of younger retail investors (e.g., Robinhood traders) likely hold Bitcoin ETFs heavily on margin alongside semiconductor stocks like Nvidia ([00:52:57]), a continued collapse in Bitcoin will trigger automatic electronic margin calls. To satisfy these margin deficiencies, brokers will forcefully liquidate these traders’ tech and semiconductor portfolios, creating a vicious, cascading cross-market selloff.

He reflects on historical cycles where touching this extreme low-volume threshold resulted in subsequent 50% and 90% destructions of capital in SOXL. He expects the chip sector to experience a severe 30% to 40% reversal before mainstream media reports on reductions in corporate AI capital expenditures.

Swing Trade Strategy and Summary

Phinney reminds viewers that on the short-term 60-minute time frame, he is merely looking for a healthy 10% to 15% market correction to back-test previous breakout ranges. However, if major indices drop convincingly below their 200-day moving averages, it will flip long-term weekly and monthly charts bearish, opening the door for much deeper, structural downside targets.

YouTube link: https://youtu.be/JgSAQpzJHWw

Market overview (AI generated summary of the video, including timestamps):

The video opens with a bearish-to-cautious read on U.S. equities, with the speaker focusing on breakdowns, gap-down behavior, and the possibility of a larger correction if key trend lines keep failing. He repeatedly emphasizes that Friday’s action could still be reversed by the close, but says the setup is increasingly consistent with downside continuation if the lows are broken.

Key timestamps and topics
0:02–0:38: Introduction, date/time, and agenda. The speaker says he will cover equities first, then FIG, Treasury bonds, and crude oil.

0:48–12:50: QQQ and NQ short setup. He discusses breakdowns from a bearish rising wedge, gap-down mechanics, sell stops, and short entries for active traders. He says QQQ hit target levels, bounced from support, and may still be vulnerable to a larger decline if lower targets are reached.

5:21–17:08: 60-minute and 15-minute chart work on QQQ and SOXX. He frames the move as an active short-term trade, with multiple targets, and says further downside would strengthen the bearish case.

17:17–23:57: Big tech and semis. He goes through Nvidia, Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Broadcom, Tesla, Taiwan Semi, ASML, Intel, Lam Research, Texas Instruments, Micron, and others, highlighting negative divergences, rising wedge failures, and possible cluster-top patterns.

25:36–29:39: FIG. He says FIG broke out and triggered a buy signal, calling it an objective long trade and also an indirect hedge if the market falls further.

29:39–33:43: TLT and Treasury yields. He says TLT is still weak, notes yields are near resistance, and treats Treasury exposure as a hedge against equity shorts.

35:06–36:33: Crude oil and inflation logic. He argues higher oil supports a bearish equity view, especially in an inflationary environment, and says crude remains elevated.

37:26–39:56: Natural gas, GDX, the U.S. dollar, and gold. He notes natural gas is approaching a target, GDX is near trend-line support, and a stronger dollar would pressure gold and silver.

40:06–41:20: Wrap-up. He says one of the bearish setups is likely to stick if weakness continues, and he plans to post follow-up thoughts later if needed.

Trade ideas mentioned
Short QQQ and NQ on breakdowns or sell-stop triggers.

Watch SOXX and the leading semiconductor names for confirmation of a broader tech rollover.

Long FIG as an active breakout trade and possible hedge.

Use TLT as a hedge, though he notes it is still under pressure.

Monitor crude oil and the dollar as macro confirmation signals for the broader market view.

Overall takeaway
The central message is that the speaker sees multiple bearish signals in the market, especially in QQQ, NQ, and semiconductors, but still treats the day as potentially reversible until the close confirms the breakdown. He views FIG as a separate bullish trade idea and uses Treasuries, crude, and the dollar as supporting macro indicators.

I did my best to shorten this video from the previous draft earlier today but the video still runs longer than usual due to the sheer number of trades & related securities covered. Towards the start of the video, I show the trades that will be covered as well as the order they will be covered so one can skip forward (drag the time slider at the bottom of the video, which allows you to see the ticker of the security being covered in the middle of the chart).

### Summary of Market Update by Randy Phinney (May 7th, 2026)

Randy Phinney of Right Side of the Chart provides an extensive market commentary focused on technical and fundamental analysis regarding equities, semiconductor stocks, futures, and select commodities, alongside insights into Bitcoin-related investments.

—

### Key Market Themes and Insights

– **Defensive Long Trades Preferred:**
– Current long trade comfort zones are largely in **defensive sectors** such as **healthcare (XLV), consumer staples, and agricultural commodities** (corn, wheat).
– Several **staples stocks show bullish falling wedge patterns**, indicating potential upward movement.

– **Semiconductors and Tech Sector — Bubble Dynamics:**
– The tech and semiconductor sectors (SOXX) are experiencing a **parabolic run reminiscent of the dotcom bubble**, but with real earnings backing the current cycle.
– Historically, semiconductor bear markets have led to massive declines (55%–85%). Past cycles reflect **extreme cyclicality based on capacity buildouts and demand fluctuations**.
– Example: **ARM’s earnings report** triggered volatile after-market price action—initial surge on earnings release followed by a plunge after conference call revealed capacity constraints.
– A major future risk is overcapacity leading to a **”glut” of chips causing a severe downturn** in semiconductor stocks.

– **Market Sentiment and Technical Indicators:**
– The **equity put-to-call ratio** indicates market complacency and bullish sentiment reaching historically high levels, often preceding corrections or bear markets.
– **FINRA margin debt** at historical highs reflects excessive leveraging, typical near late bull market phases, increasing vulnerability to sharp sell-offs triggered by margin calls.
– Long-term charts show the current market exhibiting signs associated with **late-stage bull market behavior**, including parabolic trends and record margin debt.

– **Trade Setup on Nasdaq 100 (NQ) Futures:**
– A new **short trade setup** on the Nasdaq 100 futures is introduced but remains **untriggered** pending a clear sell signal—specifically a break below a precisely defined **15-minute trend line and a key support level around $28,630**.
– Expected downside targets estimate an **11% drop from current levels**, with a near-term drop of about 3% to 4% likely on initial signals.
– Traders are advised to watch for either an initial break of the trend line or a deeper break of horizontal support, with options to take quicker trades on the 15-minute chart or patient entries on the 60-minute chart.

– **Hedging Strategy:**
– Randy favors an **indirect hedge via short crude oil positions**, as crude often inversely correlates with equity markets.
– A typical positioning ratio mentioned is roughly **3:1 for crude short relative to index positions** to mitigate risk effectively.

—

### Bitcoin and MicroStrategy (MSTR) Analysis

– **Bitcoin’s High Volatility and Correlation with Nasdaq 100:**
– Bitcoin and MicroStrategy stock (MSTR), which holds leveraged Bitcoin exposure, show **strong correlation with Nasdaq 100 (QQQ)** movements, underlining Bitcoin’s transformation into a **risk-on asset**.
– MSTR has shown dramatic moves, including a 90% drop between early 2021 and mid-2022.
– Recent developments include MicroStrategy planning to start **selling Bitcoin to finance new preferred shares**, potentially triggering further selling pressure.
– Leverage magnifies losses — selling pressure from forced liquidations (margin calls) can create vicious downward spirals in prices.

– **Leverage ETFs for MSTR:**
– Three leveraged ETFs for MicroStrategy exist; the video highlights **MSTZ** as the preferred 2x leveraged ETF based on liquidity and relative performance metrics.
– Usage of leverage ETFs requires position size adjustments (reduce by ~50%) due to higher risk.

—

### Quantitative Data Table: Bear Markets in Semiconductor Sector (SOXX)

| Period | Approximate Drop | Market Context |
|——————-|——————|————————————————|
| Late 1980s | 55% | Early cycles of semiconductors |
| Early 2000s | 85% | Dotcom bubble burst |
| Post-2007 Global Financial Crisis| 70% | Correction after massive bull run post-GFC |
| Current Cycle | *Not yet occurred*| Parabolic rise; risk of sharp future correction |

—

### Market Sentiment Indicator Overview (Equity Only Put/Call Ratio)

| Put/Call Ratio Level | Market Interpretation |
|———————-|———————————-|
| > 0.4 (Green Zone) | Elevated bearish sentiment / market bottom signals |
| ~ 0.4 | Neutral to mildly bullish |
| < 0.3 (Red Zone) | Extreme bullish complacency / potential market tops |

*Note:* These are **not precise timing indicators** but useful for gauging extremes in market sentiment and potential reversals.

—

### Summary of Trading Approach and Recommendations

– **Avoid chasing parabolic breakouts** in the semiconductor and tech sectors unless clear objective pullback entries are identified.
– Maintain diversification with a balance of **long defensive sector trades** and **select short or hedge positions** (especially crude oil shorts).
– Use precise technical levels, especially on timeframes like **15-minute and 60-minute charts**, to manage entry and exit points for active trades.
– In Bitcoin-related trades, understand **high correlation to tech/Q indices** and adjust risk accordingly.
– Prepare for **potential market inflection points** when current extremes in margin debt and bullish sentiment begin unwinding.
– Keep monitoring for official sell signals to trigger new short positions, especially in Nasdaq 100 futures.

—

### Conclusions

– The market environment as of May 7, 2026, shows **late-stage bull market characteristics with elevated risk of significant corrections**, especially in tech and semiconductor sectors.
– Defensive sectors present more stable long trade opportunities.
– Technical setups for new shorts are forming but have not triggered yet, emphasizing **patience and disciplined entry criteria**.
– Leverage and margin dynamics, as well as trading correlated instruments like Bitcoin/MSTR, require cautious sizing to avoid magnified losses.
– Indirect hedges such as short crude oil can provide risk mitigation in volatile equity markets.

Randy Phinney’s analysis underscores the importance of **combining technical, fundamental, and macro indicators** with prudent risk management to navigate the current complex market conditions effectively.

In this video from Right Side of the Chart, host Randy Phinney provides a technical analysis update on several stocks, cryptocurrency, and financial assets based on technical chart patterns.

Here is a breakdown of the key trade ideas discussed:

1. Cruise Line Stocks (NCLH & CCL)

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH): Phinney highlights that NCLH trades well strictly based on technical analysis patterns like divergent highs and lows. The stock is currently sitting in a massive symmetrical triangle pattern on the weekly chart. Because it is an “indecision pattern” and the stock does not yield a dividend, he views it as a sideways grind rather than a strong immediate trade.

Carnival Corp (CCL): Phinney maintains an active short trade on Carnival. It hit its initial price target (T1), bounced slightly back to its 200-day moving average, and he still expects it to move lower. Because cruise lines track together, he leans bearish on the sector as a whole.

2. Bitcoin & Crypto Proxies

MicroStrategy (MSTR): Discussed as a leveraged play on Bitcoin. After successfully playing it long off the lows, it hit heavy resistance at its T2 target zone. Phinney has since opened a short trade on MSTR, placing a suggested daily stop-close above $180. He expresses a strong fundamental skepticism regarding MSTR’s leverage model if Bitcoin ever drastically unwinds.

Bitcoin (BTC): Looking at a 5-year daily chart, BTC is currently testing its long-term downtrend line from previous highs. He notes that Bitcoin has developed a near-perfect correlation with the QQQ (Nasdaq 100) as a “risk-on” asset. He predicts a significant downward move if a broader stock market correction forces an unwind.

Other Crypto Proxies (RIOT, COIN, MARA, HIVE): Phinney walks through various charts, noting that most of them (like MARA and RIOT) are currently hitting key resistance levels or moving averages, making them objective short entry targets. He points out HIVE as looking slightly more technically bullish due to a falling wedge pattern, though he remains skeptical because it must ultimately follow Bitcoin.

3. Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY)

Phinney unexpectedly notes a clean bullish falling wedge breakout on BBBY. The stock recently rallied up to its 200-day moving average, faced a rejection, and is undergoing a technical back-test. He suggests it could be a viable long buy with a tight stop below recent lows to see if the move plays out.

The video serves as an analysis of risk-on assets showing signs of technical resistance before he shifts his focus to semiconductor stocks in a subsequent video.
