Nat gas is certainly affected by weather forecasts but typically longer-term forecasts & not so much the minute-by-minute changes. It trades well to the technicals (charts) which tend to have all known variables, including the weather, supply disruptions, etc.. already priced in.
Other than a pretty big unexpected change in the weather outlook, the big thing that can foil the charts on nat gas is the weekly inventory reports. Just something that swing & position/trend traders must learn to live with or trade around.

Thx for pointing that out. I just pulled a long-term weekly chart of MS & I do see that recent breakout above the downtrend line off the 2000 highs. MS also has negative divergence on the weekly so my guess is that a backtest of the trendline in the coming weeks to months is likely & if so, that could account for a drop of about ~18% from current levels. First things first & that would be to see some decent sell signals on the majority of the big banks.

If, nay, when the next really BIG drop in the market comes, if that coincides with a rapid shift in the economic outlook then silver will likely underperform gold as it trades more for its industrial use than gold, which can often catch a flight-to-safety bid during corrections & bear markets, helping to offset the decreased demand from its industrial applications.

Of course, the charts will likely help to indicate whether silver will rally with gold (assuming the former does rally) or fall with the stock market when the next big drop finally gets underway.

How does charting come into play with a commodity that's moved by weather forecasts? Oversold doesn't mean anything when December is going to be the 10th hottest ever. Does that just mean that when the weather does change the price is more likely to run higher because of the previous fall, chart set up, and low sentiment?

I purchased close to the low today based on my long daily trend stretching back to July.

Thanks
