No, I have no idea whether they miss or beat although that is irrelevant. I've seen companies come in way above estimates only to be sold off shortly or immediately afterward & I've seen companies miss by a mile only to bottom & rally from there. Also, keep in mind that some companies beat expectations, with the stock initially rallying in pre or post-market, only to reverse hard following the conf call after providing forward guidance or something else investors didn't like.

In other words, all that matters is the market's reaction to earnings, not the actual earnings & not really the initial reaction but how the stock trades in the days to weeks following. As such, one might opt to hold back on adding or initiating any shorts until tomorrow or early next week. Pros: Potentially avert getting caught on a bullish post-earnings rip on AMZN. Cons: AMZN pulls a FB & you end up with a much less favorable entry shorting the indexes on a big gap down tomorrow and/or Monday morning.

For me, as of now it still appears that the next 10-20% move in the market will be down before up & as such, I will stick with the swing shorts I have now & subtract or add to those positions depending on how things go after today. Risk-averse traders (although that's really an oxymoron) might opt to wait for some additional bearish or bullish events before taking or adding to shorts or longs.
